| Lot description: CILICIA, Seleucia ad Calycadnus. Gordian III, 238-244. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29mm, 11.57 g 7). ANTΩNIOC ΓOPΔIANOC CEBATOC Radiate and draped bust of Gordian to right. Rev. CELEVK-E-ΩN TΩ PPOC / KALV - KAΔN Athena advancing right, holding shield with her extended left arm and preparing to hurl a thunderbolt at a serpent-legged giant who is kneeling to left and throwing stones at her. SNG France 999ff. Cf. SNG Levante 764 (same obverse die). SNG von Aulock 5842 (same dies). A lovely example with natural light green patina and some earthen deposits as found. Good very fine.
